Wouldn't It Be Good

"Wouldn't It Be Good" is a song by English singer-songwriter Nik Kershaw. It was released one month prior to his debut studio album Human Racing.

In September 1983, Kershaw released his first single "I Won't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", which reached No. 47 in the UK Singles Chart. It became a major hit in Scandinavia, Switzerland and the Netherlands. He was a self-taught guitarist, leaving school partially through his A levels to play with various bands in the Ipswich area. The last of these bands, Fusion split up in 1982 leaving Kershaw to embark on a full-time solo career as a musician and a songwriter.

It was at the beginning of 1984 Kershaw released his breakthrough song "Wouldn't It Be Good" reaching number 4 in the UK singles charts spending three weeks there and a big success in Europe.

The video was king during the eighties driven by the popularity of the dedicated music channels and especially MTV. The video for Wouldn't It Be Good featured the use of chroma key technology where Kershaw transformed from his initial bright white vintage white suit and shoes eventually into the 80's fashion of the time. Cinzano and Campari get a small feature, drinks of the era.

Kershaw was born on 1 March 1958 in Bristol, England, and grew up in Ipswich, Suffolk. Wouldn't It Be Good was the second single from Kershaw's debut solo album Human Racing and turned out to be among his more popular single releases? There were three more top twenty hits enjoyed from his debut album.
